Celebrating Troy’s Historic Treasures

Originally established to encourage and maintain public appreciation of Troy Proctor’s Theater and adjacent historic buildings. Now re-visioning and re-missioning to work as an advocate for all of Troy’s built treasures.

Does Troy Need a Preservation Advocate?

Yes, We Do!! The historic architecture of Troy may be well known and appreciated by Hollywood as the setting for movies and television shows, but for the residents of Troy, these are our neighborhoods and the places we live and do business.

Although there are organizations devoted to preserving individual buildings, such as the Hart Cluett Museum, The Friends of Oakwood Cemetery, and Mt. Ida Preservation Association, there is no organized effort to preserve the everyday buildings that form the backdrop for our lives. Sadly, we are losing buildings on a regular basis, and until now there is no organization advocating for saving and rehabilitating these threatened pieces of our rich architectural heritage.

Preserving Troy’s Heritage

Join us in our mission to celebrate and protect the architectural gems of Troy. We advocate for the preservation of our historic buildings, ensuring that future generations can appreciate their beauty and significance.

The Troy Proctor’s Foundation was incorporated in 2010 to prevent its demolition. In 2026, we legally challenged the City of Troy’s move into the theater because it threatens its historic fabric. Now, we’d like to get out in front and preserve other threatened properties around the city and be a general advocate for preservation.
